A restaurant has to be high on my list if I’m going to drive 30 miles for a bite to eat and Aloha Mixed Plate is definitely one of them. I guess it does help that the 30 mile drive is along Honoapi’ilani HWY versus a freeway with a ton of buildings like my normal commute is.

Located on the waterfront behind Lahaina Cannery Mall and right next to the Old Lahaina Luau, Aloha Mixed Plate features a great menu with ‘local’ favorites and a variety of healthy options. Aloha Mixed Plate has won a variety of awards, the most creative being the “Best Place to Eat in a Bathing Suit” Award.

My personal favorite, the kalbi ribs. Now, you can eat ‘kalbi ribs’ or, you can eat ‘KALBI RIBS,’ and Aloha Mixed Plate makes a mean kalbi. I like the fact that AMP has some ‘healthier’ options to choose from one of which is the Veggie Stir Fry with homemade oyster sauce. Personally, I go for the meat plates but I have a friend who swears by the stir fry, “add some tofu and it’s to die for.”

I’ll be honest, everything is great at Aloha Mixed Plate but it gets busy and that means there is a bit of a wait. My twins started to go a little stir crazy so we just walked through the restaurant to the beachfront and hung out there until the food was ready.
